What does this mean for businesses?

For Korean companies, Cambodia is becoming increasingly relevant not only as a trading partner, but also as a market for investment, manufacturing, sourcing and long-term business cooperation.

Recent discussions between Cambodian and Korean business organizations have also focused on strengthening investment and trade cooperation, business support, information exchange and investment opportunities.

Several sectors show potential for further cooperation, including:

  • Agriculture and food processing
  • Manufacturing
  • Automotive
  • Electronics
  • Digital technology
  • Business services

However, market growth alone does not guarantee business success.

Understanding Cambodia is the real starting point

For a company entering a new market, knowing the headline numbers is only the first step.

Businesses also need to understand:

  • Who are the local customers?
  • Who are the competitors?
  • How does the local market operate?
  • Which partners and suppliers are reliable?
  • How should communication be handled across Korean, English and Khmer?
  • What practical challenges may appear after entering the market?

This is where local knowledge becomes valuable.
